Thailand expects to enjoy a steady increase in international visitor numbers and revenue in the first quarter of this year, following a strong growth in January and a host of favourable factors, including a high demand from the China market for the Chinese New Year holiday period and the tireless effort by the kingdom’s tourism stakeholders to attract more tourists. 

In January 2015, Thailand welcomed a total of 2.65 million foreign tourists and generated about 120 billion Baht in revenue, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.9 per cent and 12.7 per cent, respectively.

Water, energy and food security challenges, as well as women’s empowerment and the promotion of gender equality, are among major issues raised for discussion at the Seventh Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Regional Working Group Meeting.

The meeting took place at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel in Bangkok on 29 – 30 January 2015, and it was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the United States Department of State. 


The Thailand International Film Destination Festival 2015 is scheduled for 4-12 February 2015 at Siam Paragon Cineplex in Bangkok.

Recently, the Royal Thai Embassy has received inquiries from Mexican citizens regarding travel funded by the Thai Government of the Kingdom of Thailand.

In this regard, the Royal Thai Embassy wishes to clarify its procedures and practices relating to the granting of sponsorship / scholarship as follows:

1. The Royal Thai Embassy provides financial and logistical support to Mexicans traveling to Thailand for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to, academic          and cultural exchanges as well as to familiarize with Thailand.

2. By agreeing to provide financial or logistical support, the Royal Thai Embassy will provide the beneficiary written information and relevant details related to the grant.        No verbal promise will be considered an act of the Royal Thai Embassy.

3.  Referring to the method of financing, the Royal Thai Embassy employs only three procedures, as follows:

                               1. The Royal Thai Embassy is responsible for all reservations and payments necessary without providing direct beneficiary financial transactions.

                               2. The Royal Thai Embassy provides the total amount of financial assistance to the beneficiary who then will be responsible for arranging your own                                           journey.

                               3. The Royal Thai Embassy also provides partial funding of partial logistical arrangements.


Please note that the Royal Thai Embassy also requests the recipient make an advance payment without written confirmation process.
