On 22 April 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with Mercado Roma and “La Ahumadora” Restaurant, successfully held the Opening Night of Thai Food Festival at Mercado Roma – a vibrant and modern food market in the heart of Mexico City, attracting over 100 guests from the media, cooking schools and the hotels and restaurants sectors.

I recently had a chance to spend a couple of days experiencing the tranquil Thai way of life and wonderful Thai arts in this lovely province.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration yesterday officially opened the ‘Songkran Festival: Happiness and Joy in the Style of Thainess’, which is being held from 12-15 April, 2015, from 16.00-21.00 hrs. at Sanam Luang. During 20-21 March 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy, Mexico City, together with the Muay Thai Mexico Tailandia (MTMT) association, organized Muay Thai promotional events. A seminar for judges and referees was held at Galerias Plaza de lasEstrellas with participation of approximately 100 people from the Muay Thai circles of Mexico.
On 18 March 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico participated in the “Brides of Asia” Charitable Brunch which was organized by the Asian Ladies Club (ALC) in Mexico City. The Embassy sponsored the fashion show with a Thai bride theme and the Ambassador of Thailand, together with Embassy officials, attended the event. The event is the ALC’s annual charitable fundraiser in which proceeds would go to a social service foundation in Mexico.
Bangkok has been voted as the “Favourite City for Leisure in the Asia-Pacific” by readers of DestinAsian magazine, a leading travel and lifestyle magazine. The cosmopolitan capital of Thailand was recognised “for its vibrant mixture of historic sites and modern style.”
Petchaburi is situated on the northwestern shores of the Gulf of Thailand and borders Myanmar (Burma) to the west, where the dense jungle peaks of the Tanaosri Range serve as a natural division between Thailand and Myanmar. A very old city, Petchaburi is believed by some historians to have Indian roots for its name, as the Indian influence over a millennia ago was quite strong.
Although Thailand has never been colonized, Trat province was occupied by the French in 1868, in March 23, 1906, King Rama V granted the areas and islands of Pratabong, Sri Sophon and Siamrat (located to the right bank of the Mekong River and now Cambodian territories) to the French forces in exchange for the return of Trat. The local people to show their gratitude built a monument to King Rama V in the City Hall to remember his efforts to keep Trat within Thailand.
